"Africa" by David Diop (Senegal)

This piece of literature, "Africa" is a sad poem talking about Africa and its people. Basically it talks about the struggles the African people had to live through. This also tells us that Africa is a country full of beauties. The people of Africa were treated horribly, and specially when they became slaves. It tells us that people from other countries had no respect for the African people. Also that the people of Africa are very poor and live in poor conditions.

"The Last Judgement" by Karel Capek (Czechoslovakia)

The story “The Last Judgement” tells us that the people from Czechoslovakia are believers. Since in the story we learn that they believe in heaven and hell. They also believe in having judges that decide whether you will go to hell or stay in heaven. God being the ultimate witness, who knows everyone’s sins, and crimes. Mainly we know that they are religious people who stick to their beliefs.

I think that the consequences for living a bad life are going to be paid in the afterlife. They will be paid at some point if they aren’t paid while you are alive, then in the afterlife. I believe that the final judgement is true, you will get judged for all those bad choices you make in life. I do  believe in Karma, humans shouldn’t be mean and inhumane because I bet they wouldn’t like others to treat them that way.

"First Confession" by Frank O'Connor (Ireland)

The story “The First Confession” tells us that in Ireland they are very strict with their religion. The people in Ireland follow the requirements of their religion. Such as having their first confession so they can later do their first communion. The story also tells us that Irish drink a lot of beer and eat potatoes. The boy shows us how they commit many sins, but they must say them all to get forgiveness from God.

I go to the Catholic Church; the main traditions of our church are baptism, first communion, confirmation, and marriage. We have the main tradition which is to go to mass every Sunday. We belief in God and in the Virgin Mary mainly, then we have the smaller concepts like the 7 sacraments. Also the Ten Commandments are a big belief in our religion. In Christmas time a big tradition for my church are the Mexican Posadas. Some activities we engage in are Wednesday of Ashes, El Domingo de Ramos, celebration of the dayof Virgin Mary.
